Forum Members Visit National Museum of Industrial History

IMG 3148Members of the Executive Forum of the Lehigh Valley held an off-site, regular meeting at the National Museum of Industrial History. The meeting was designed to spur networking among members and guests as well as serve as an opportunity to learn more about the Museum. Often the Executive Forum holds meetings out in the community in effort to expose and educate members about cultural institutions, charities and other topics of interest to members.

The museum made its debut in August 2016 with the goal to "forge a connection between America's industrial past and the innovations of today by educating the public and inspiring the visionaries of tomorrow". The museum has four exhibitions focusing on a different aspect of industrial history that affected both Pennsylvania and the rest of the country. Housed in a former facility of Bethlehem Steel, it holds a collection of artifacts from the textile, steel and iron, and propane gas industries. The museum is an Affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution and holds a significant collection of industrial machinery on loan from the Institute's National Museum of American History. The museum also has a large collection of documents, machinery, photographs, and other archival material from Bethlehem Steel.
